Uber or Cleaning Crew?

Uber or Cleaning Crew?
March 5, 2019 Eric Carter

Are you aware of everything going on with your company vehicles? Don’t assume you know the answer. Our client Fred, who owns a small nightly cleaning service and employs family, found that often he couldn’t determine why his vehicles were logging hundreds of extra miles that couldn’t have been from the cleaning work. The cleaning work was being done and the vehicle always came back on time, so when he asked his employees what was happening and why they were driving so much, he could never get a straight answer.

Determined to get to the bottom of the issue, Fred hired us and installed a fleet tracker in his vehicle.

Using GPS tracking Fred found that every night his vehicle would leave the office and go directly to the job site. But, stayed there only briefly before departing on various routes throughout the night.

Fred never mentioned to his employees that he was tracking the vehicle, and by the end of the week, he had his proof.

He found that every night after dropping off the three co-workers at the job site, one employee would use his van to uber and make some extra cash while they were already out.

Fred trusted his employees, as many do, and found that one of them wasn’t even working for him at all! Who knows what stake the others had in it, because they refused to tell Fred what was happening with his vehicle even though they had to pick up the slack.

Thankfully, with the help of Rhino Fleet Tracking, Fred was able to take charge and ensure his fleet was only doing work-related business while on the clock.
